Reptiles are animals with a variable internal temperature whose temperature varies with that of their environment.
During the winter, they are inactive and take refuge in well-drained shelters, for example in rodent holes or rocky crevices.
Their skin is dry and covered with scales. These animals, diurnal in our regions, have particularly developed hearing, sight and smell.
They like open environments with heterogeneous vegetation and edges (wasteland, meadows with poor mowing, rocky slopes, forest clearings, etc.).
Our native fauna (in Belgium) includes 4 species of lizards and 3 species of snakes.
